A Bristol man who used to be an instructor has qualified for the European Karate Championships. He has been teaching martial arts in Bristol for 30 years and passed a tough selection process to go forward and compete in the veteran category. It is the first time he has competed in such a competition in 15 years and he said he hopes his work will inspire others.

He’s loved martial arts since childhood

He has been closely involved with karate since his childhood, watching action movies and learning the martial art from his father. He joined the Scorpion Karate Academy as a teenager and went on to become a senior instructor there. However, he had to stop training due to ill health when he contracted COVID-19 in 2021 and was left in a very bad state of health, but thankfully he has recovered and is looking forward to the competition.
