The winning karate team from the Karate Dream Festival 2024 International Championships was
invited to a press conference at the Saipan Mayor’s office,
where the Mayor spoke about the positive effects that martial arts bring to the community and
shared that partnerships with sports organizations are in the works.
Planning sports programmes for youth
He also announced that a non-profit organization will be established to raise funds
for youth to participate in sports programs.
Martial arts is great for the community because it keeps people away from the drug problem that is currently plaguing the city.
People who changed after learning karate
One former karate student said that he quit karate because he felt that he had developed
enough self-defense skills and was mentally mature enough that he no longer needed to do it.
He added that karate is for you, not for others to see. One person who has been practicing karate
for a year said that it has changed him by keeping him disciplined and active.
